Morel Mushrooms 2008
Went into the woods along the Des Plaines river on Sunday, didn’t find any at the usual spot I check. After reading some Illinois reports this morning, it seems yellow morels aren’t plentiful yet in the northern Illinois area. I’ll be going out Thursday and Friday for some major hikes in the lowland areas. I used to think low areas weren’t ideal for mushrooms, but some reading today showed this to be the opposite. Hopefully I’ll have pictures this week from a successful hunt.
Here was a good post I read on flooded land and morel production. Even better is that it was written in 2008, as it is not always easy finding current morel mushroom articles.
